What actually happens when the internet goes down mid-sale?
Nothing you would notice. The catalogue, prices, tax rules and customers are already on
the device, so the sale continues, the bill prints and the drawer opens. The finished
bill joins a queue on the device. When the connection returns the queue empties by
itself, and because each bill carries its own key, a retry cannot turn one sale into
two.
Do I need one licence for every billing counter?
No. Every plan is priced per outlet and includes as many billing devices and staff
logins as you need. A shop with three counters and eight staff pays the same as a shop
with one counter and two staff.
Is there a setup or onboarding fee?
No. Setting you up — the catalogue, tax rates, printers, staff and the first day's
handholding — is part of what you pay for, not an extra line on the invoice.
Does UniPOS handle GST properly?
Yes, for GST billing and reporting. Each item carries its tax rate and tax code, the
bill shows the CGST and SGST split for a sale within your state or IGST for one outside
it, and your reports carry a GST summary by rate and tax code that matches the sales it
came from. UniPOS does not currently generate e-invoices with an IRN, and we will not
claim it does — if you are above the e-invoicing turnover threshold, ask us about it
before you commit.
What hardware do I need?
An Android phone, tablet or billing machine, or a Windows or Linux desktop. UniPOS works
with standard ESC/POS thermal receipt printers, cash drawers driven from the printer,
and keyboard-style barcode scanners. You buy hardware yourself, from whoever you like —
we do not resell it and we do not lock you to a model.
Can I move my existing products and customers across?
Yes, and it is included. Bring what you have — a spreadsheet, an export from your
current software, or a list — and we will bring it in with you during onboarding.
Who can see my data?
Your business's data is scoped to your business, twice over — the software checks it and
the database enforces it independently. Off-site backups are encrypted on your device
before they are uploaded, and your device holds the key: there is no key stored with us
and no decryption path in our software, so a backup is unreadable to us by design rather
than by policy.
What happens if I decide to leave?
You export your data and go. It is your catalogue, your customers and your sales history,
and getting it out is a feature of every plan rather than a favour you have to ask for.
